We’re proud to announce that Atomicwork has achieved the ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification, becoming one of the first organizations worldwide to adopt this pioneering global standard for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems (AIMS).

At Atomicwork, our AI innovation is always grounded in responsibility and building with secure design principles. Achieving this certification at such an early stage is not just a compliance milestone; it’s a recognition of our leadership commitment and proactive approach in ensuring that AI-powered capabilities in our service management platform are secure, ethical, and trustworthy.

This rigorous certification process was conducted by INTERCERT, a globally recognized and accredited certification body, who validated that our governance practices, risk management framework, and AI-enabled workflows align with the highest international benchmarks.

What is ISO/IEC 42001:2023?

ISO/IEC 42001:2023 is the first international standard for AI management systems, developed by ISO and IEC to help organizations deploy and govern AI responsibly.

With enterprise AI adoption quickly accelerating, this standard ensures that organizations focus on maintaining:

  • Transparency: Clarity in how AI features are designed and governed
  • Security: To protect sensitive data across AI-enabled workflows
  • Ethical AI use: Adopting AI responsibly and in line with global norms
  • Risk Management: Proactively identifying and mitigating AI-related risks

By being among the first to achieve this standard, Atomicwork demonstrates a forward-looking commitment to responsible AI, well ahead of industry adoption.

What was Atomicwork evaluated on for responsible AI practices

Earning the ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification meant that all our AI and data policies, processes, and practices were open to independent scrutiny. Over a multi-stage audit, assessors verified our readiness, tested our AI controls, and confirmed that we follow through on what we claim.

Some of the areas we were rigorously evaluated on include:

  • Leadership commitment for AI governance: Our CEO, CTO, and CISO were directly involved in reviews of AI risks, vendor due diligence, and operational oversight to confirm that top management integrates AI governance into business strategy and supports continual improvement.
  • AI policy and alignment with organizational frameworks: We had to demonstrate documented AI governance - security, acceptable usage, and lifecycle policies – that is mapped to broader risk, compliance, and business continuity frameworks to show that AI controls are fully embedded into enterprise governance.
  • Defined roles and responsibilities around AI: The audit validated that accountability for AI is clear across engineering, compliance, and operations, with structured oversight at both management and board levels.
  • Risk and impact assessments: Periodic AI risk assessments, vendor risk reviews, and AI system impact assessments were evaluated, covering not only technical risks but also potential effects on individuals, groups, and society at large.
  • Operational AI lifecycle controls: From secure system design and SDLC procedures to deployment, monitoring, and decommissioning, every stage of the AI lifecycle was assessed. Evidence such as event logs, technical documentation, and incident response workflows was reviewed.
  • Data management discipline: At Atomicwork, we don’t train AI models ourselves, but we take complete responsibility for how AI is integrated, governed, and delivered within our platform. Auditors examined our policies around data acquisition, quality, provenance, and preparation, ensuring that all AI-related data is compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • AI incident management and transparency: We were also evaluated on our processes for reporting and addressing AI-related concerns, communicating incidents, and enabling external reporting by customers or other stakeholders.

Atomicwork was evaluated on all the above and found to have clear processes and oversight across the entire AI lifecycle with transparent and ethical AI practices.

Atomicwork has always been built on a security-first foundation, validated through independent audits and documented in our Trust Center.  

While building our AI systems, we developed our own framework to govern how we design and deploy AI, codified as the TRUST (Transparent, Responsible, User-centric, Secure, and Traceable) framework. This ensures that our features come with built-in guardrails, explainability through linked sources, and audit-ready documentation across the lifecycle.  

By adding the ISO/IEC 42001 certification, Atomicwork gives CIOs and IT leaders the confidence that our platform is not only secure but also aligned with the highest global standards for AI adoption.
